I have been called to duty to serve, not only my country, but all those involved in Operation Enduring Freedom over in Afghanistan. I will be station in the Intensive Care Unit at the Role III NATO Hospital on Kandahar Air Field, caring for wounded military personnel from all branches of the services, from various countries. I will be caring for wounded local civilians and, yes, even the enemy. I made a committment seven years ago to serve my country and the people of this country as a registered nurse in the Navy Nurse Corps. Now I will be fulfilling that committment in the most intimate way possible. I will be going to the war zone where the long-awaited NATO-led offensive to regain government control of Kandahar will begin in June. I will attempt to update this blog as frequently as possible so that my family and friends may remain updated on my adventure over in the sandbox.
